Does Canon 5D Mark III Have Image Stabilization?

  • Post author:

The Canon EOS 5D Mark III does not have image stabilization. Canon is not a fan of putting in-body image stabilization features on their DSLRs. They feel that it is best left to their lenses and that their cameras are capable of taking excellent pictures without image stabilization.

Nevertheless, the Canon EOS 5D Mark III is a highly capable camera by today’s standards. It has a 22MP full-frame CMOS sensor that can deliver captures that are detailed, sharp, and with great dynamic range.

It is great in low-light situations and indoor events like weddings, parties, and concerts. The 61-point autofocus system is robust and can accurately lock onto a subject in situations where lighting is not ideal.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III Alternatives

If you’re looking for a canon camera that has an image stabilization feature, here are some of our recommendations:

Canon EOS R6

The R6 is one of Canon’s latest full-frame mirrorless cameras. It’s a great alternative to the Canon 5D Mark III, because of its high-quality 4K video recording and Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology.

The R6’s sensor is an updated 20MP full-frame CMOS sensor that can deliver outstanding colors, sharpness, and skin tones. Moreover, the Canon R6 can shoot up to 20fps continuous shooting, making it perfect for action photography.

Canon EOS R7

If you’re looking for a more affordable and smaller mirrorless camera with in-body image stabilization, the Canon R7 is a great option. The R7 has a 32.5 MP APS-C sensor that can deliver excellent image quality in a smaller package

Currently, the Canon EOS R7 has limited stock, but it will be available later this year. If you’re interested to get this amazing camera, you can check it on Amazon.

Which is better Canon EOS 5D Mark III or IV?

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is better in every aspect than the 5D Mark III, except for the price. The main reason to upgrade from the Mark III to the Mark IV is if you want a faster focusing system, more focus points, and less noise in higher ISO.

But this doesn’t mean that the Canon EOS 5D Mark III isn’t a great camera. And with its dropping price, it’s becoming an even better value. If you want a great full-frame DSLR camera, either one of these cameras is a great choice.

Is The Canon EOS 5D Mark III still worth buying?

The Canon EOS 5D Mark III is still a great camera and worth buying. While it won’t have the latest technology like 4k video or dual pixel AF, it still has many features that make it a top-notch DSLR such as excellent low-light performance, dual SD card slots, and fast autofocus.

Its 22.3 full-frame CMOS sensor is more than enough for most people and I know a lot of pros who still use this camera as their main body. It’s still a great choice for anyone who wants to take high-quality photos without breaking the bank.

I’ve used it in a lot of poor lighting conditions and I was still able to get good results. The build quality is excellent and it feels very sturdy in your hands. Like my Canon 5D Mark II, there are still a lot of available lenses for 5D Mark III. Please check out my favorite portrait lenses for my 5D Mark II, they can also work for your Canon 5D Mark III.

If you’re looking for a full-frame DSLR but don’t want to spend $2,000+ on the current Canon EOS 5D Mark IV model, then this might be a good choice for you.

Is Canon 5D Mark III discontinued?

With Canon shifting its focus towards the new mirrorless line-up, they decided to discontinue the 5D Mark III. This means that there will be no more cameras produced after the current stock is sold out.

However, there are still plenty of used models available on sites like Amazon so you can get one for a good price. And, like Nikon who will completely stop producing their DSLRs, it’s likely that Canon will go down the same path, especially since they’re focusing on mirrorless.

The good news is that there are still a lot of lenses designed for DSLRs on the market, so you can still get a great camera for years to come.

Does Canon 5D Mark III have continuous autofocus?

Yes, it has continuous autofocus during photos. But when taking videos, it gets a little bit frustrating because you need to manually refocus the focus point if you point the camera on another subject. It can be hard to keep the focus on a moving subject towards you.
